Title : Adaptive soundscaping as a building system: Solving the built worldβs sound problem with generative audio
Abstract : Sound is one of the most influential environmental variables in indoor spaces, yet it remains one of the least managed. In offices, hospitals, and other complex environments, sound is often treated as a fixed βbackgroundβ layer (or left to chance), resulting in distraction, fatigue, privacy concerns, and inconsistent occupant experience. At the same time, conventional audio systems are typically designed for content playback, not for continuous environmental optimization.
In this talk, we introduce Moodsonicβs approach to adaptive soundscaping as a building system. We will discuss the real-world problems we see across workplace, healthcare, and education environments, and how a new category of platform can respond dynamically to changing conditions through generative audio, spatial design principles, and software-driven control. Weβll outline how Moodsonicβs platform is designed to support scalable zonal deployments, measurable outcomes, and spec-ready project documentation. And weβll share live demonstrations of the product workflow from design through control and monitoring.
Speakers :

Evan BenwayΒ is Co-Founder & CEO of Moodsonic, where he leads the companyβs strategy and commercial growth as it scales deployments across workplace, healthcare, and education environments. His background sits at the intersection of acoustics, product innovation, and real-world building deployment. Prior to Moodsonic, Evan led product and innovation roles in audio and wearable technology, and has authored multiple patents in adaptive sound masking and environmental audio systems, including locality-based noise masking and steerable loudspeaker approaches for individualized sound masking. He is also an Advisor to the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) on the WELL Sound Concept, and a published author on long-term workplace studies of water-based masking sound perception.
Jeff LarsonΒ is Co-Founder & Chief Product Officer (CPO) of Moodsonic, where he leads product and platform development spanning generative audio, adaptive control systems, and deployment architecture. With a background in audio innovation and user experience interaction, Jeff focuses on bridging spatial audio principles, systems design, and implementation requirements to make adaptive soundscaping scalable and spec-ready for the built environment.
